  1. Changes to DECA’s School-based Enterprise (SBE) Program

  2. New Certification Guidelines 10 standards Performance indicators (PIs) are new sub-sections Corresponding task or question for each PI clearly outlines what information should be included Sample template for documentation and review panel’s checklist available at www.deca.org/sbe/certification/

  3. New Re-Certification Guidelines New • 6 standards • First 5 pulled from certification guidelines, 6th will be chosen by SBE Advisory Council and change every year • 6th standard for 2012-2013 school year is “Social Responsibility” • Addition of reflection section immediately following each standard • Members must reflect on how their SBE has changed or grown in that area in the past year

  4. Other Important Points • No vendor list required • Must include signed Statement of Assurances • The new changes do not mean that everyone must complete certification this year; if your SBE is due for re-certification, simply follow the new re-certification guidelines. • Don’t just write to the examples provided in the guidelines – be creative!

  5. New SBE Academy Format • SBE teams will present in front of judges only – not in front of the entire group • Preliminary and final rounds of competition • Academy activities to include speakers, vendor engagement and discussion

  6. Questions about SBE? • Contact Lucy Young of DECA Inc. at (703) 860-5000 or Lucy_Young@deca.org. • The SBE Advisory Council is also here to serve you: http://www.deca.org/_docs/page-attachments/DECA_SBE_Advisory_Council.pdf
