  6. Map Instructions 1. Label the names of all the countries on your blank map. 2. Label the capitals of all countries with * next to their names. 3. Next to the names of each country, write their top TWO dominant ethnic groups 4. Completely shade in countries that are not Spanish-speaking 5. Color in countries that you would consider “developed” (rich) one color. 6. Color in countries that you would consider “developing” (poor) another color.

  7. Discussion Questions • Do Latin Americans generally have BETTER or WORSE lives that people from other parts of the world? Use at least THREE statistics to back up your opinion. • Explain what factors are considered in the Human Development Index. In your opinion, is this an accurate way of measure the living standards? Identify at least TWO other factors that should be considered in measuring the living standards of a country. • Is there any connection between the racial/ethnic background of a country and the HDI? Explain why or why not using at least TWO examples from your packet.
