  2. What is new in FP7? • Duration: 7 years (except EURATOM: 5 years) • Budget: over € 53 billion • New Structure: 4 Specific Programmes: Cooperation, Ideas, People, Capacities (plus EURATOM and Joint Research Center) • Integration of the international dimension into all Specific Programmes

  9. 1- Associated countries 2- Industrialised countries (USA, Canada, Japan, Australia….) 3- International Cooperation Partner Countries (ICPC): Countries neighbouring the EU (Mediterranean Partner Countries, Western Balkans, Eastern European and Central Asian Countries) Developing countries (ACP, ASIA, Latin America) Emerging economies (e.g. China, India, Brazil, Russia, South Africa) International Cooperation: Third Countries

All themes open to third countries Minimum 3 different EU Member State (MS) or Associated Countries (AC) Beyond this minimum, all 3rd countries can participate ICPC would generally be funded Industrialised countries funded only if indispensable for the project Targeted calls possible International cooperation in COOPERATION SP

  12. Specific International Cooperation Actions linked to the 10 themes Calls for proposals dedicated to ICPC in each Theme Minimum 4 participants from different countries: 2 ICPC + 2 MS or AC ICPC participants get funding International cooperation in COOPERATION SP (cont.)

  13. ERC grants: open to non-Europeans provided they move to the EU + Associated Countries Participation of Third Countries to be justified on basis of added scientific value/mutual benefit(in addition to the minimum consortium: one legal entity from MS/AC) International Cooperation in IDEAS SP
