PRE – CLIL The class: • year 6, mixed ability • 20 pupils (3 with special needs, SPF) The topic: • The Strings (violin, viola, violoncello & contrabass)
PRE – CLIL The main aims: • The pupils try to use the English language. • The pupils know the names of the different string instruments and know some parts of the violin. • The pupils hear differences between the single string instruments.
WHILE – CLIL Introduction: • information in German about the project • natural switch to English • no “WHY’s” from the pupils

WHILE – CLIL 1st Lesson: • the pupils heard a violin “live” • introduction of the other string instruments • get to know parts of the violin • TRY IT OUT (the violin)

AFTER – CLIL Resume: • the pupils really liked it to try out the violin • most of them matched the English words correct • misunderstanding from my point of view (worksheet) • it seemed to be okay that the music lesson was in English
