  2. Lute -During the Renaissance the lute held the highest respect of all musical instruments. -The lute was an ideal accompaniment for voice and other soft instruments.

  3. Viol The viol first appeared in Europe in the late 15th century and subsequently became one of the most popular Renaissance and Baroque instruments. Viols were heard primarily in ensemble, or consort, music. Viol music was heard all over Europe and England.

  4. Crumhorn -The name of the Crumhorn comes from the German krumhorn, meaning curved horn. -The crumhorn, used in the 14th to17th centuries in Europe. -Articulation is effected by the tongue stopping and opening this wind way.

  5. Rackett -Racketts were double reed instruments of the late Renaissance. -They are remarkable for their small size and low register. -Renaissance racketts have cylindrical bores that are divided into nine sections.
