Digital Rentals: Here’s the Deal • Agreement on 3 key areas: • Price: 60% off new print textbook prices • Publishers choose the titles they will offer • Marketing: CSU and vendors will collaborate on raising awareness, comfort, and competencies in using digital textbooks • Accessibility: Vendors will provide the CSU a roadmap for improving the accessibility of their eReaders

CSUDH AL$ Summary • 127 Faculty Participants 2010-2012 • 106 Faculty Participants AY 2011-2012 with faculty representation from all colleges • Potential student savings Fall 2010 – Fall 2011: $490,666 for 147 courses, 6,918 students • Bookstore savings to students, Fall 2010 – Spring 2012: $808,949

The Beginning Stages • Planning and Discussions: CSU, Provost, Library, Dean’s Council; Bookstore; Campus Information Technology, Technology Advisory Committee, Academic Senate & Senate Executive Committee • Bringing AL$ to faculty via college-specific workshops, special grant project, and departmental meetings • Emails to faculty introducing AL$

Lighting the Fire • Bookstore finds rentals and offers rentals even when CSUDH is the only Follett campus to offer a title. • Library matches its e-Resources to class required textbooks and notifies faculty • Faculty make specific search requests • AL$ webpage, especially AL$ Faculty Showcase(http://library.csudh.edu/ALS/showcase/)

Faculty Recognition • Faculty Showcase with individual faculty pages listing resources and links to resource used • 2011 and 2012 Faculty Recognition Receptions with certificates of recognition/appreciation given to each participant • Also provide personally addressed invitations, emails, etc.
