? ? Why Should I Save Emails as .msg Files? The Court may direct the Commonwealth to produce various emails as part of the discovery process. The purpose of discovery is to obtain original documents that have not been altered. Saving emails as .msg files preserves emails and attachmentstogether in the form they were originally mailed. This means an attachment to an email will not be separated from the original email text. Uploading emails into OCC/RAPS is a two-step process: 1. Saving the email in .msg format 2. Importing .msg file into OCC/RAPS
Saving Emails Using Message Format (.msg) From your inbox, locate the email you would like to import into OCC/RAPS and double-click to open it. Click File
Click Save As Select the drive/location that you would like to save to using the drop-down menu. Select Message format (.msg) using the Files of type drop-down menu, then click Save.
Importing Emails into OCC/RAPS using Message Format (.msg) Enter your UserName and Password, click Logon Note: Your UserName and Password for OCC/RAPS is the same as your CWOPA UserName and Password. Enter the Assignment/Docket #, click Go. Click Docs.
Click Importer Click Continue Indicate the Document Type as an Email, click Browse to select the saved .msg file, enter a description, and click Upload File.
After the message, “Document was uploaded successfully” appears, click Close Window. Click the uploaded file.
Both the email and its attachment are successfully uploaded together in their original format, etc.
