  2. purpose • This project is being conducted to see whether air pressure affects how long a hovercraft stays in the air .

  3. Hypothesis • If the air pressure in a hovercraft is high, then it will stay hovered longer than if it had low air pressure.

  4. Supplies • A CD[old or scratched] • A Bottle Cap • Glue • Balloon • Air Pump

  5. Process • The first thing you do is glue the bottle cap to the CD. The wait for the glue to dry.

  6. Process • The second thing you do is fill the balloon with air. Use the air pump to add a measured amount of air.

  7. Process • The third thing you do is put the balloon on the bottle cap. Make sure no air escapes from the balloon.

  8. Process • The last thing you do is release the hovercraft on a flat surface. Record your results and conduct the experiment 2-3 times.

  9. Results • As a result, my hovercraft stayed hovering for 5 seconds with two pumps of air on the first trial. • On the second trial, with four pumps of air, the craft stayed hovering for 9 seconds. • On the third trail, with six pumps of air, the craft stayed hovering for 11 seconds.

  10. Conclusion • As a conclusion, my hypothesis was correct and I have proved that higher air pressure in a hovercraft affects its length of time in the air.
