Beautiful Places in Daman and Diu The union territories of Daman and Diu, and Goa were once part of a single Indian union territory. Daman and Diu remained a single and distinct union territory after Goa was granted independence in 1987. The union area is divided into two districts, Daman and Diu, approximately 198 kilometers apart. As a former Portuguese colony, the area is home to various structures and monuments with Portuguese-styled architecture and town planning. The Arabian Sea separates the union territories of Daman and Diu tourist spot in western India. Despite their differences, the two union territories have sun-kissed beaches, ancient colonial forts, and renowned gorgeous cathedrals in common. The following are some beautiful places in Daman and Diu Bom Jesus Church The building of the church began in 1559 AD and was finished in 1603 AD at Moti Daman, Daman. The unique and beautiful Roman-style architecture of Bom Jesus Church is on exhibit. Six lovely saint sculptures may be seen inside the cathedral. The church's altar is made of wood and is an excellent example of Portuguese craftsmanship. Murals adorn the ceilings, and the artistically carved entrances will pique tourists' interest right
away. The church is a significant component of Daman's legacy and a relic of Portuguese art and architecture. Nagoa Beach Nagoa Beach, about 20 minutes from Diu town, is a famous beach with both residents and visitors. The beach, close to Nagoa's historic fishing hamlet, is also a popular picnic destination. The most distinctive characteristic of this beach is the shoe shape it bends into, giving it a distinct appearance.Palm trees border a two-kilometer stretch of coastline. Horseback riding, water sports, and swimming are just a few of the activities available to beach visitors. Gangeshwar Temple The Gangeshwar Temple is located in Fudam hamlet, about 30 minutes from Diu. Lord Shiva is honored at this temple. According to legend, the Pandavas, during their exile from Hastinapur, constructed the five Shiva Lingas that can be found here. Every year, many worshippers go to the temple because of its long history. The Shiva Lingas are built on the shores of a sea that is constantly washed by oncoming waves. Somnath Mahadev Temple Among Hindu pilgrims, the Somnath Temple is a well-known temple. The shrine may be found in Dabhel hamlet, about an hour's drive from Diu. Lord Shiva is honored at this temple. The shrine is reportedly built after a monk in the 19th century requested the formation of a shivling in Dabhel. Every year, the temple hosts the 'Gangaji Fair,' which draws people from all over the world to commemorate the installation of the Shivling.
