  3. The Father Won’t Let you Fall- Have Faith in Jesus Christ!

  4. Have Faith in Jesus Christ! • Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1) • Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:17) • “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.” (Revelation 22:13)

  5. Theme: “Jonah” Heroes of Faith

Jonah – Statesman/Prophet “He (ie King Jeroboam II of Israel) was the one who restored the boundaries of Israel from Lebo Hamathto the Sea of the Arabah, in accordance with the word of the LORD, the God of Israel, spoken through his servant Jonah son of Amittai, the prophet from Gath Hepher”. (2 Kings 14:25)

Jonah 1:1-4 The word of the LORD came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” But Jonah ran away from the LORD and headed for Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. Then the LORD sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up.

  8. Jonah 1:12 “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”

  9. Jonah 1:17-2:1 But the LORD provided a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was inside the fish three days and three nights. From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the LORD his God.

Jonah 3:1-5 Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.” He proclaimed: “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overturned.” The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.

  11. Jonah 3:10-4:6 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened. But Jonah was greatly displeased and became angry. But the LORD replied, “Have you any right to be angry?” Then the LORD God provided a vine and made it grow up over Jonah to give shade for his head to ease his discomfort, and Jonah was very happy about the vine.

  12. Jonah 4:10-11 But the LORD said, “You have been concerned about this vine, though you did not tend it or make it grow. It sprang up overnight and died overnight. But Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?”

The Sign of Jonah – Jesus(Matthew 12:38-40) Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher, we want to see a miraculous sign from you.” Jesus answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

  15. 3. Yahweh is salvation (The LORD) [Joshua-Yeshua-Jesus] i) Personal Salvation (make dead people live) ii) LORD of all nations (Christ for all nations)

  16. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
