  2. To help you understand the AUN Grading System.

  3. You will be able to identify and define AUN Grades. • You will be able to calculate your GPA. • You will know how your GPA affects your Academic Standing. • You will know where to locate and use various AUN Resources.

  4. Types of Grades: • Midterm Assessment *Does not affect GPA/Transcript • Final Grades: • A • B+ • B- • C • D+ • D- • P • I • A- • B • C+ • C- • D • F • W • WP • WF

  5. Performance Levels: • A to A- Demonstrates an excellent command of the subject. • B+ to B- Represents a good command of the subject. • C+ to C- Shows a command of the subject/meets expectations.

  6. Performance Levels (cont): • D+ to D- Work considered at a minimal passing level, but demonstrates significant gaps in knowledge and falls short of expectations. • F or WF Work that demonstrates substantial shortcomings in knowledge and/or is insufficient in quality to warrant awarding credit for the course (0.0 Grade Points awarded).

  7. Incomplete Grades: • The grade of Incomplete may be given to a student who, due to extenuating circumstances   (i.e. documented and confirmed illness, death of family member), is unable to complete the course requirements.  An 'I' may be given only if the student is receiving a passing grade at the time the request is made. • The student has six weeks into the subsequent semester (includes summer sessions) to complete the course work. If the work is not completed within the six weeks the incomplete grade is reverted to a grade of 'F' is automatically.

  8. Grading Scale (4.0): • A = 4.0 • B+ = 3.3 • B- = 2.7 • C = 2.0 • D+ = 1.3 • D- = 0.7 • W = Not Included in GPA • WF = 0.0 • A- = 3.7 • B = 3.0 • C+ = 2.3 • C- = 1.7 • D = 1.0 • F = 0.0 • P = Credit earned/not in GPA • WP = Not Included in GPA

  9. GPA: The GPA is calculated by dividing the Grade Points (Quality Points) by the Number of Course Credits Enrolled (Attempted). Total Grade Points (Quality Points) ÷ Total Number of Course Credits Enrolled (Attempted)

  13. Academic Standing: • Good Standing – cGPA 2.0 – 4.0 • President’s List: term GPA 3.8-4.0 • Dean’s List: term GPA 3.5 – 3.799 • Academic Warning – cGPA 2.0 – 2.25

Academic Standing (cont.): • Academic Probation – cGPA below 2.0 for the 1st time • Academic Restriction – if previously on Probation & cGPA below 2.0 at the end of next enrolled semester • Academic Suspension – if previously on Restriction & cGPA below 2.0 at the end of next enrolled semester • Academic Dismissal– if previously on Suspension & cGPA below 2.0 at the end of next enrolled semester

  15. REPEATS: A student may repeat a course (s). The latest (most recent) grade replaces the previously earned grade regardless of whether the second grade is an improvement or not for GPA calculation. Both grades will appear/print on the student’s academic record/transcript.

  17. Check Sheet: How do final grades affect academic progress on a Check Sheet? • Prerequisites • Catalog Year (2011 – current): • C or higher for Major or Minor credit • D or higher for all General Education Courses

  18. How to better prepare for my course (s)? • Attend class and Be on Time! • Know your course syllabi • Interact with your Professors (ask questions) • Know my Department Chair/Dean • Visit the Advising and Registrar Offices • Familiarize myself with AUN Resources
