  2. Introduction There are many ways of assessing your personality and your suitability for a role. Many will concentrate on how you would suit jobs that require teamwork or independent work, practical skills or theoretical skills etc. For this A0 you need to think about your own strengths and weaknesses; your skills and your experiences., and how they qualify you to work in the areas you have chosen

  3. Task 1 • Collect together as much information as you can about your skills and experiences. The ideal way to do this is to make use of your school’s careers software which will judge your skills and summarise the sorts of roles you are suited to.

  4. If you don’t have access to a careers site, you may find the websites below useful: • http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp • http://www.outofservice.com/bigfive/ • http://www.teamtechnology.co.uk/mmdi/questionnaire/ • http://www.personalitytype.com/career_quiz • http://www.prospects.ac.uk/psychometric_tests.htm • http://www.findingpotential.com/?gclid=CNDx-LC3wqICFQRslAodZn5y5A

  5. Task 2 • Compare your skills and training to the skills and training needed for your chosen areas. • Skills needed to work within the area. • Training requirements • Starting packages • Content of job roles • Working conditions (self-employed, contract, home-working etc) • Progression, particularly from an entry level position – you may use a flow chart or other diagram if you want.

  6. Task 3 • List and describe your strengths and weaknesses in relation to the chosen career areas. • What training would you need to enter the chosen career areas and how and where would you access them.

  7. Task 4 You need to write a report on your investigations covering task 1, 2 and 3. You will find the report writing document helpful.

  8. Methods: Throughout this unit, most of your facts will come from the internet, but you can also try the following: • People in industry • Connexions advisors and information sources • Newspaper vacancy pages If you are really stuck you can use the website list available.
