Typical Day In The Life Of A Surgeon (Schedule) 8:00am-9:00am:Visiting patients in hospital 9:00am-12:00pm:Performing surgery in operating room 12:00pm-2:00pm:Meeting over lunch 2:00pm-4:00pm:Working in my office, seeing patients 4:00pm-5:00pm:Attendind a meeting 5:00pm-6:00pm:Visit patients in hospital, monitoring their progress 7:00pm-8:00pm:Reading paperwork to prepare for meeting or presentation 8:00pm-8:00am:On call for EMERGENCIES!!!!
Daily Tasks • 10 activities that surgeons do on a daily basis are that they: • Operate on people/do surgeries • Check on sick/recovering patients progress • Stabilize patients conditions • Do more complex surgeries(brain surgeries, etc.) • Make sure people don’t die/Direct and coordinate activities of nurses, assistants, specialists, residents, and other medical staff. • Repair body parts(such as broken legs, hips, hands, etc) • Replace broken/dead body parts(such as again legs, hips, etc.) • Replace internal organs(such a liver, kidney, intestine, etc.) • Comfort patients and give them security(to patients, families, sometimes even doctors!) • Prepare case histories
Earnings • How much money can a surgeon make? • Entry level:$50-$140thousand a year • Medium/Moderate level:$140-$175 thousand a year • Expert level:$175-$500 thousand a year • How can they earn more money? • Yes, by knowing or getting more knowledge in another field in surgery’s/medical. Like if you know how to do plastic surgery you get paid more because the place where you work can make you do plastic surgery also the surgeries you already know how to do. • Are there benefits and if so what? • Yes, they get pension plans and health, dental, and life insurance.

Imagine that’s only New York! This ,means they’ll be an increase of 20 job(s) each year, and a total of 50 job openings each year. • Is this good? • I think this is good because when I’m older and I need a job to be a surgeon, they’ll be a lot of openings available for me!
Dislikes/Disadvantages • 5 things I don’t like about being a surgeon is: • Someone can die because of a mistake I made or I didn’t save the person in time • Not enough sleep because I’m always on call • Always on call!!! • Patients can be unreasonable! • There’s a lot of paper work!

Career Path • A summary of my career(surgeon) is: • That there are three different levels in being a surgeon. There is being a resident which you earn $40-$50 thousand a year and you have to supervise work in the hospital, work as a surgical assistant, you have to be on call for emergencies and train in a field of specialization. The 2nd level is being a staff surgeon which you can earn up to $175,000 - $500,000 a year and your responsibilities are to diagnosis and treat patients, also doing consultations and operations. The 3rd level is being a Department Head which you can earn up to $250,000 to $500,000 a year and all you do is diagnosis and treat of patients and doing administrative work (such as budgets).
