Filming Location The show is filmed in South East London, mostly on location around the Southmere Lake in Thamesmead.Other exterior shots were filmed on the Heygate Estate. Many interiors were filmed in sets built in the old Runnymede campus of Brunel University. The scenes under the flyover are in Boston Manor Park in Brentford, London. The bar in the second and third series was not located in South Street, Brunel; it was a set built specifically for the show Audience Misfits is mainly targeted and late teens to mid 20s. The reason I say this is because it contain a lot of foul language and sexual references. It also is quite a dark comedy, which would not be appropriate for the younger generation.
Story Line Misfits follows five early-20s delinquents on community service in Wertham (a fictional borough in London),who are caught outside during an electrical thunder storm and hail the size of bowling balls, and who acquire special powers. Once they discovered their powers, they team together to become a super hero team. Production Broadcast
Representation All the main characters in Misfits are Youth offenders, which immediately makes you think of loud mouth kids which a bad attitude and bad behaviour, only thinking of themselves. This is then a complete contradiction when you think of how a super hero is represented (looking out for others, working towards the greater good, gracious...) So straight away you have to completely different representations that are expressive the same thing. In general, the cross-representation in Misfits is fair and unbiased, but of course, to present the characters with depth and individuality, they veer off the course every once in a while and act as a stereo typical teen. Nathan badly represents young men, with the excess drinking and obsession with sex. Alisha embodies quite a driven young women who is confident and will stand up for herself, but is also shown as a sex object portrayed as lustfully and as sexually as possible.Kelly would be the most stereotypical character, being fairly loud and rude to other. Curtis is shown first of all as a violent male who is irrational and overconfident, who chooses to be different (show by the way he wears his uniform. It can be said that there is a fair representation of gender and ethnicity in Misfits, because there are 3 males and 3 females and 2 coloured and 2 white characters. (3 coloured as of episode 4). However, the issue of mental health is addressed almost immediately in the first episode and continued throughout the series through Simon. The other characters think that there is something wrong with him and therefore treat him differently, which generally happens in real life.
