  6. Challenges To Making A Difference • Lack staffing; • Lack time; • Lack political and community support; • Lack equipment; • Lack training; and • Lack of Attitude

Recipe For Making A Difference • Preheat to a boiling point. • Public’s boiling point; • Public support; • Change behavior that costs lives. • Identify the reason for the Aggressive Patrols. • Plan a solution. • Address the issue? • Action plan - have the answers ready and a plan developed before asking for political support.

Recipe For Making A Difference • A bucket full of political support. • Convinced there is a problem; • Communication to the political sub-division; • Invite citizens. • Gallons of department support. • Backing of the agency; • Convince leaders within the department; • Support is essential at all levels • A pound of first-line supervision support. • The first-line supervisor is the key.

  10. Recipe For Making A Difference • Roll out thick belief in the patrols. • Crucial to communicate and motivate the street officer. • A sprinkle of equipment. • Find out what patrol officers need, and provide it.

  11. Recipe For Making a Difference • Groups of steamed citizens. • Success has been with the help or insistence of citizen groups. • A bunch of media coverage. • Public service announcements; • Spread your message; • Give them the tools; • Provide ride-alongs; • Help them help you.
