  4. Community Employment Job Initiative Social Economy 4. Back to Work & 5. Back to Education Allownaces Over 25’s one year. Over 35’s up to three years Over 35 & 5 years unemployed As 2 with a 10% allowance Over 23 & out of work for 5 years Over 23 & one year unemployed Programmes and Entitlements.

  5. Current Situation • Government Decision to greatly reduce current numbers on on Labour Market Intervention Programmes. • The majority of these programmes are based within a Community Setting.

  6. Barriers to work • Literacy Difficulties • Educational Qualifications • Skills gap • Ageism • Hours (Part time V Full time) • Loss of benefits • Wage levels at entry point

  7. Barriers to work cont. • Fear • Lack of support • Confidence and self esteem • Gaps on CV • No safety net i.e. no turning back • Relaxed atmosphere

  8. Project V Participant • Are skills gained on the project relevant to labour market progression? • Is there enough time and emphases placed on training for participants? • Project work V individual training plans.

  9. Areas for Development • Greater Work Experience • Enhanced Training Funds • Stronger Links with Career Advice and Guidance • Longer Planning Time i.e. Individual Training Plans
