A, B: Oligodendrocytes identified by carbonic anhydrase II (CAII) immunoreactivity before the start of cuprizone treatment (A) or after 4 weeks of cuprizone (B). There is a loss of CAII-immunolabeled cells after cuprizone treatment. C, D: Oligodendrocyte progenitor cells identified by NG2 immunoreactivity prior to (C) or after 4 weeks (D) of cuprizone treatment. There is an increase in reactive NG2 immunolabeled cells after cuprizone treatment.
