State of the Environment Norway • What it is • Web site that provides information about the state and development of the environment • Main target groups include students, politicians, civil servants, media, NGOs • Developed on the instruction of the Ministry of the Environment • Content • Thematic information about pollution, nature management and cultural heritage • National environmental goals and indicators • Environmental data presented as graphs and maps

Regional and local level • All 18 counties have their own SoE • Use the same model for presenting information (DPSIR) • Maps and data from SoE Norway are presented in the reports ”on the fly” • Environmental authorities in the counties av responsible editors • Norwegian Pollution Control Authority coordinates, supervises • The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities manages municipal networks for environmental and social development (180 municipalities)

SEIS compatibility • Features matching SEIS principles - The MoE expects environment.no to play a central role in SEIS - sharing content - DPSIR-model • Challenges relating to SEIS principles - mainly historical trends, few scenarios - up to now – few restrictions on developments - need more state of action information? - need to introduce new indicators?
