Graphic Organizer for “The Marble Champ” example essay Thesis statement: I believe that “The Marble Champ” is really about the idea that if you are truly determined, no matter what the task, you can accomplish anything. Body 1 Main Idea – sets her mind to the goal of being the best at marbles and does whatever she can to accomplish this goal Evidence (scene/event) – takes the weight of her body, gets on her hands and knees, moves up and doing forty push ups each day on the tips of her fingers Evidence (list) – practices shoots, flicking, and knuckling for 3 hours a day, and even abandons her homework
To a Paragraph Lupe Medrano, the young bookworm, sets a goal for herself, but it is out of her comfort zone. She didn’t just want to be good at a sport, she wanted to be the champion of marbles and does whatever she can to accomplish this goal.As someone who is more comfortable around books, Lupe needed to improve her physical condition which is rarely an easy or enjoyable process for anyone.Lupe took the weight of her body, got on her hands and knees, and does 40 pushups each day on the tips of her fingers.She would also practice shooting, flicking, and knuckling for 3 hours a day and even abandon her homework.Not only does Lupe step outside of her typical boundaries by setting this goal, but to accomplish it she does whatever she has to.

Body 2 Main Idea – Lupe’s determination by explaining about the muscle that she was developing in her thumb Evidence (scene/event) – one part of the story where Lupe’s thumb muscle has become so big and awkward that she doesn’t even show it to her father for fear of embarrassment. To a Paragraph Since the sport of marbles requires its athletes to use their hands, it is specifically the fingers, mainly the thumb, that requires the most training. Lupe took this seriously and did a lot to develop her thumb muscle. Unfortunately, she did so much that the muscle became so big and awkward that she doesn’t even show it to her father for fear of embarrassment. Lupe’s determination is very admirable and inspiring.
