Learning the String Names Nut This is the top of the Guitar neck 1st fret 2nd Fret Low High • E ADGBE When learning the acoustic guitar it is very important to learn the names of the strings in OPEN form. Open form is plucking the string open without holding the string down at any fret. The letter is the tone of that string. (knowing this will help with tuning your acoustic as well)
