Didactic • A specific style of giving the intention of instructing and teaching. • “Sometimes its better to worry about yourself rather than get tangled into other drama.” • “If you work hard now, life will be much more easier in the future.” • “Life is a game we all play, and if you survive, you’re the victor.”
Euphemism • A substitution that replaces an offensive description with one more sensitive. • “I’m not fat. I'm just big boned!” • “I was so weak that I felt as if I was wearing cement shoes.” • “At some time, we must cross over to the other side and move on.”
Extended metaphor • A continuation of simple comparison between to unlike things through a series of sentences. • “Life is a journey with many obstacles that many must overcome.” • “Life is complicated, therefore that person is the loser of the contest for dying.” • “Life is a precious possession. Time is a thief when every second passes by.”
Figurative Language • A description of something by comparing it to something else. Ex: metaphors, similes, personification etc. • “Life is like an aging tree, slowly dying with such grace.” (simile) • “She was as furious as a bear when she mauled my face.” (Personification) • “Love is a rose that signifies everlasting tranquility.” (Metaphor)
Figure Of Speech • A use of language in a non-literal way or sense. Ex: hyperboles, personification, similes • “He ran so fast that his feet caught on fire.” (Hyperbole) • “Money is like water, you can never have to much of it." (simile) • “The man was as strong as King Kong when he lifted the weights.” (Personification)
