Richard and Judith Lang • They are Husband and Wife and also co-artists (artists that work together) • They love nature and science which inspires their artwork • In 1999 they began to collect along the beach in California, plastic garbage which they used for their artwork
Feather on the Breath… • A moving work of art created with all plastic found at the Beach
Why create from garbage? • They show how much garbage there is along the beaches and how pollution is hurting nature and our world through their art.
Vocabulary • Litter: Trash, such as paper, cans, and bottles that are left lying in an open or public place. • Pollution:the start of harmful substances or products into the environment • Recycled Materials: reuse of waste or garbage for ex. paper, metal, glass, and plastic • Three Dimensional: having height, width, and depth (Volume) • Sculpture: a three- dimensional work of art
Now it is Your turn!!! • Create just like the artists Judith and Richard Lang by using garbage to make something beautiful!
Bottle Fish • This project will tie together “Rainbow Fish” and Judith and Richard Lang’s art process of using garbage • You will need to bring in empty Plastic Soda Bottles
