About the Program • Program focus on self-discipline, human relations and communication skills with high standards in academics and professional conduct. • Students are required to be in uniform at all times, reflecting the high professional standards of this program, both at CALC and Centennial College

Credits Earned • In your first semester at CALC, you will earn six high school credits AND six college credits • Upon completion of the first semester, you move to Centennial College to complete your studies in Semesters 2, 3 and 4 (approximately 1.5 years)

Assessment Information • Date: See school website Please ensure you bring all documents and fees: • One of: • Canadian Birth certificate/Canadian Passport or Canadian Citizenship card • Landed Immigrant Paper or Permanent Resident Card • Official letter designating you as a Convention Refugee or a Study Permit valid at least until June 2011 • Transcripts/Educational documents from: • the last Ontario high school you attended • the last high school outside of Ontario you attended • any post secondary institution you attended • Health card
About the Assessment • The written component of the assessment examines the candidate’s ability to write a supported opinion essay on a topic related to policing. Candidates will be expected to produce an organized, thoughtful essay with few mechanical errors. Candidates must earn 16/25 or 65% to be successful. • 60 minutes is allowed for the written assessment
Sample Question(s): • In your opinion, what makes the field of policing and law enforcement a rewarding, yet challenging, career choice? Give three specific examples to illustrate your opinion. • Should the government allow liquor to be sold in grocery and convenience stores?
Acceptance and Intakes • All successful candidates will be called within 3 weeks of the assessment. • September to December • Students attend Centennial in January; projected program completion 1.5 years (an additional 3 semesters) • February to June • Students attend Centennial in September; projected program completion 1.5 years (an additional 3 semesters)
