  4. BIEN is an adverb, so it's used much as English uses well.* It often describes the “way in which something is done”: (well/correctly) Es unapelículabienemocionante!:  It’s a really exciting film!Es un estudiantebieninteligente.:  He’s a very intelligent student.Tupeinadoesbienmoderno.:  Your hairstyle is really modern. * Bien can also offer different options, translating into English as “either … or …”: Bienpuedesvenirmañana, bienpuedesvenir el sábado.:You can either come tomorrow, or you can come on Saturday. Lo hicistebien. (You did it well) BUENO/A BUEN on the other hand, is and adjective, so it will accord with the noun it goes with. Buenis the shortened form of buenothat's used right before a masculine singular noun: un buenlibro (a good book) but estelibroesbueno (this book is good). Note: With masculine singular nouns, you can also place “bueno” before the noun, but it then shortens to “buen”. So you can either say:  un librobueno:  a good bookor:  un buenlibro:  a good book Bueno, can also be a “filler” word, translating as “Well, ….” Like the word “pues”.Bueno, … vamos a ver …:  Well, … let’s see … Hopefully this has made the confusion over whether to use “bien” or “bueno” a bit clearer!

  5. Buen is used in from of a masculine noun, whilebueno/a is used after the noun: • - Fue un buenviaje. (It was a good trip)- El viajefuebueno. (The trip was good)As a general rule, adjectives generally go after the noun, and the sentence will have a more literal meaning. When coming before a noun, an adjective generally takes on a more figurative, poetic, or literary sense.

  11. A lot of adverbs are derived regularly from the feminine forms of the adjectives by adding the suffix -mente (this pattern appeared in the Vulgar Latin), cf. claro : claramente temporal : temporalmente valiente : valientemente These adverbs correspond to the English adverbs formed by -ly. The derived adverbs are of: manner (mainly): claramente clearly etc.; time: antiguamente anciently; affirmation: efectivamente effectively, realmente really; doubt: posiblemente possibly, probabilmente probably; exclusion: exclusivamente exclusively, simplemente simply, solamente solely, unicamente uniquely; inclusioninclusivamente inclusively; orderprimeramente first, ultimamente ultimately; etc.
