Key Terms • Paul- A covert that guided the Christians to see themselves as part of a new religion. Encouraged a more formal organization in Church. • Augustine- One of the greatest Christian theologians and was also a bishop in North Africa (Hippo Regius).
Key Terms • Justinian- (Ruled: 527 to 565 B.C.E.) Byzantine emperor who attempted to revive the lost western half of the Roman Empire. Also known for establishing the Justinian Code. • Benedict- Started a monastery among Italian peasants whom he lured away from the worship of the sun god Apollo. Also created the Benedictine Rule.
Key Terms • Yellow Turbans- Daoist leaders that attacked the weakness of the emperor and the self-indulgence of the current bureaucracy. • Axum- Defeated the kingdom of Kush, but then fell to the civilization of Ethiopia.
