Percents • Origin is Latin for “per centum” meaning “per 100” • In Italian “per cento” meaning “by 100” • In Spanish “por ciento”
Converting between percentage and decimal • Percentage means "per 100", so 75% means 75 per 100, or simply 75/100 = 0.75 • So, to convert from percentage to decimal: divide by 100 (and remove the "%" sign). • The easiest way to divide by 100 is to just move the decimal point 2 places to the left and remove the "%" sign!

Need to Know Answers • When is it due? • End of period Thursday (tomorrow!) • What do we need for the project • Section 1, 2, 3 (with explanations) and a flyer • See rubric • Graphs – yes graphs! SEE RUBRIC! • Do we have to be present? • No – just the handouts will be turned in along with your graphs and the flyer • According to the rubric, should include a cover page • Can we draw the flyer • Yes – any size you’d like • How many days/week will we work on it • Per agenda, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday (today and tomorrow) • Will we be able to take it home? • Yes! • Will we work out of school on it? • Yes – you can take it home • You should work on it tonight or meet up before/after school today or tomorrow
