  6. Going to/from the Range • When transporting a firearm you must do it safely to protect you and any of your passengers plus anyone you might be passing. • Always carry your firearm in a case. • Always separate your ammo from your firearm. • Always secure your firearm case. • Know your states transportation and carrying laws! IMPORTANT! Menu Next

  7. Going to/from the Range • Always carry your firearm in a case! • The case is to protect your firearm and also you. • There are 2 types of cases • Soft and hard Menu Next

  8. Going to/from the Range • Always separate your ammo from your firearm. • This is mainly so you don’t leave the firearm loaded. Menu

  9. At the Range • The NRA or National Rifle Association has 3 very basic rules to follow. • ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. • ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. • ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to shoot. • Most ranges have there own rules but here are 10 common range rules you should need to know whether you have a range master(someone who runs the range) or not. Menu Next

  10. 10 rules of shooting safety When at the range there are 10 basic rules you should follow. These will keep you and anyone else there safe. Rules are there to have a good safe time and not put a damper on your afternoon or morning. Menu Next

  11. ALWAYS point the muzzle in a safe direction. • This is to protect the people around you. As long as the muzzle is pointed in a safe direction if it were to accidently go off then there would be no worries because the muzzle was pointed in a safe direction. Menu Next

  12. Treat every firearm with the same respect as you would a loaded one. • If you treat it as if it were loaded at all times then hopefully this should keep you safe at all times. Menu Next

  13. Be sure of your target and what is in front of it and behind it. • My cousin was hunting for deer. It was deer season and not turkey season. He was told by his father to shoot. He replied “Dad its not turkey season!” A turkey had gotten in-between the deer and him. Its important to know what is in front of and behind your target so you accidentally don’t shoot an animal that’s not in season or more importantly you don’t kill someone. Menu Next

  14. Unload firearms when not in use. • This keeps everyone safe. There can be no accidental firing without a loaded firearm. • `This can protect little kids who don’t know what they are doing around a firearm. Menu Next

  15. Handle firearms and Ammunition carefully • This is mainly to protect the weapon and the ammunition. This is to help avoid denting or scratching your firearm. • For the ammunition side of things if you don’t handle it carefully you could drop a round and it could accidently go off . Very slim chance however its still possible. • Best way is a case. Menu Next

  16. Know your safe zone-of-fire and stick to it. • Know what area is safe to shoot in and stay in that area. Menu Next

  17. Control your emotions when it comes to safety. • If you are angry and upset its ok to shoot and take out a little frustration on a target however, don’t skip any safety rules! Be safe stay as calm as possible and have fun to help your mood. No one’s mood is improved if they hurt themselves or someone else. Menu Next

  18. Wear ear and eye protection. • Ricochets happen and when they do you want to be wearing eye protection! The casing can bounce back and hit you in the eye as well or maybe someone in the next lane is shooting and one of there casings can fly and hit you in the eye. • Hearing protection I think is self-explanatory. Guns are loud and you should protect your hearing from loud noises. Menu Next

  19. Don’t drink alcohol or take drugs before or while handling firearms. • Self-explanatory really. • You need to have a clear mind to be able to make clear and safe decisions. • Would you trust this guy with a gun? Menu Next

  20. Beware of additional circumstances which require added caution or safety awareness • This could mean any number of things, but as long as you are safe no trouble should come to you. Use your head. If something says don’t shoot check it out first. Then follow your instincts. Quiz Menu
