  3. Larceny • Taking someone's property with the intent to steal. • Taking someone’s bike from a bike rack. • Shoplifting and Concealment • Keeping something that you found IF it is identifiable. • Grand Larceny (felony): $100 or more • Petty Larceny – (misdemeanor) less than $100

  4. Embezzlement • A church treasurer who takes money from the church • A CEO who takes money from his company.

  5. Robbery • Theft of property from a person WITH • The act or threat of harm

  6. Armed Robbery adds the element of a weapon or perceived weapon.

  7. Burglary • Entering a building without permission with the INTENT to commit a crime.

  8. The penalties are worse for burglaries… • That take place at night. • Of inhabited dwellings. • In which the burglar is armed.

  9. Arson • Burning property with intent and malice.

  10. Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle

  11. Joyriding (misdemeanor) is when intent is temporary use

  12. Grand Theft Auto (felony) has the intent of permanent use.

  13. Extortion (blackmail) • The threat of future harm in order to obtain someone’s stuff.

  14. Forgery • To make or change a document with the intent to fool.

  15. Receiving Stolen Property • This is a crime if you knew or should have known that the property was stolen • Felony: $100 or more • Misdemeanor: less than $100
