  1. Works Cited and In-text Citations

  2. Proof of Research • The purpose of a works cited page is to provide the list of resources that were used in the paper. • Your credibility in this paper, or any other research based endeavor is tied to your ability to provide proof of facts and ideas.

  3. Proof of Research • In an expository research paper like we are doing • In-text citations are a short hand form that shows two things: • One: When you are using ideas that are not your own. • Two: To show that your claims in the paper have a grounded basis in someone else's work.

  4. Hanging Indents Click the bottom triangle and drag it to the ½” mark. Center the text and type “Works sided.”

  5. Setting the works cited page • Move the cursor so it is to the left of “Works Cited” then insert a page break.

  6. A properly formatted works cited. A works cited “entry.”

  7. In-Text Citations • These are the basis for your works cited entry. • You have a works cited entry for every cited fact. • You must cite all facts, quotes, and ideas that are not your own.

  8. In-Text Citations • The in-text citation is basically the first word of each entry.

  9. In-Text Citations • Boccia, Michael becomes (Boccia 10). • The # 9 is the page number, you must have this included for any “print” sources.
