2018 Honda Hornet: Specifications Variants and Price The 2018 version of Honda CB Hornet 160R was launched with upgraded features. With ABS and CBS technologies as an option, this new version also comes with LED headlamp and revised instrument cluster. It first made its appearance in the 2018 Auto Expo along with Hondas X-blade, active 5G and 2018 CBR 250R. This bike has four variants and a price range starting from ₹ 84,675, going up to ₹ 92,675 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Body and Design The 2018 Hornet gets new styling updates. With the rest of the design remaining the same, the bike now gets full LED headlamp. The body graphics are also new and a bolder 'Hornet' badging can be seen on the fuel tank. The Hornet 160R has been designed in such a way that it is stylish and comfortable at the same time. Hornet has been built upon a tubular diamond frame, which gives the bike an aerodynamic styling and a sporty look. The 12- litre fuel tank is surrounded by sleek panels with X shaped LED tail lamps.
The instrument console has been carried over from the old model but now misses out on the gear position indicator, which is available on the X- Blade 160. Also, the console now gets blue illumination instead of the previously seen amber. The bike is available in five colour options- green on grey, orange on grey, red, blue and yellow. The Honda CB Hornet 160R is a single-channel unit and gets the Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS). There are two ABS versions of the bike that are on sale - DLX and STD. The ABS and CBS are two different technologies for safe braking. The CBS is Honda’s in-house braking system that uses the rear brake lever to distribute the braking force between the front and rear wheel. Through this, the CBS helps in decreasing the stopping distance of a two-wheeler and reduce the chances of skidding as well. The front brake can also be used independently. Engine and Power Just like the previous model, the 2018 Hornet continues to run on a 162.7 cc, air-cooled engine. This engine produces a maximum output of 14.9 bhp at 8500 rpm and 14.5 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The engine has been paired to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension duties on the Hornet are handled by the telescopic front forks and a monoshock setup at the rear. The bike’s braking performance comes from 276mm petal disc brakes up front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear, while the base versions get a rear drum brake as standard. The bike also churns out a good mileage of 59kmpl. With a top speed of110Kmph, the HET based engine of this bike reduces engine weight as well as friction. The ground clearance of this bike is 164mm, which keeps it considerably above the ground. This helps the bike to overcome the bumps easily and offer a smooth ride. Competition and Price The Standard version of the 2018 Honda CB Hornet 160R with disc brakes is priced at Rs.84,675 while the Standard variant with CBS (Combi Brake System) is priced at Rs.89,175. The standard ABS version costs Rs.90,175 and the Deluxe ABS version is available for Rs.92,675 (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). The bike comes with features like a wide 140 section tyre, rear monoshock suspension and sealed low-maintenance chain. This bike gives competition to
well-known bikes like the Yamaha FZ-S FI, Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Suzuki Gixxer SF and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
