Global: Growth of Key Macroeconomic Indicators, 2007-2011 • The world economy saw negative real growth in 2009. • Most industrialised nations slid into recession while growth slowed down in emerging markets. • A recovery began in H2 2009 and is expected to continue into 2010. Macroeconomic View 2009 represented a mixed year depending on the market. • Retail sales growth in key developed markets hit hard in 2009: • USA: -4.3% in USD • Japan: -2.1% in JPY • UK: -0.6% in GBP • Spain: -3.3% in EUR • Retail sales growth in key emerging markets remained robust in 2009 (albeit at lower levels than previous years): • China: +13.0% in CNY • India: +12.5% in INR • Brazil: +3.8% in BRL
