LETTER-ESSAY • Write a rejection letter to a wrong answer choice who doesn’t understand why it is not the best answer for the question stem. TEXT RENDERING First Round: Each person shares a sentence from the document that he/she thinks/feels is particularly significant. Second Round: Each person shares a phrase that he/she thinks/feels is particularly significant. Third Round: Each person shares the word that he/she thinks/feels is particularly significant. The group discusses what they learned about the text, shares the words that emerged and any new insights about the document. In your dialogue journal, write to a member of your team and talk about everything you have learned about the Research Summary and Student Data Tables and predict what kind of questions will be asked. Collaborative Group Work: Letter- Essay • On chart paper, write down your best response to the first question stem. Be prepared to discuss and defend your response. • With your group pick the best answer, and be prepared to justify your selection to the class. • Next, you will get one of the answer choices and you must justify why yours is the best or worst answer. • With your group, pick the best answer choice and present your justification to the class. • Now pick the worst answer and write a rejection letter to it, explaining in detail the reason for the rejection. • Exchange rejection letters with another group.
