Innovate UK – Rail Competition Highlights to Date • Rapport: an approach to get emergency services to incidents and casualties more rapidly and to help minimise network disruption. • New seating approach to maximise train passenger capacity: compact seating for commuter services. • CloseRFIT: releasing unoccupied reserved seats. • Transreport Passenger Assist System: a real-time system for the disability community to request travel assistance. • Journeys Unlocked: audio-based accessibility to support navigation to a specific reserved seat on a train for poorly-sighted customers. • Innovation in Novel (TRAIN) Battery Technologies: an approach for rapidly recharging battery trains at stations.
