Our demonstration systems AI Group: Query Classification System • http://q2c.cs.ust.hk/q2c/ • Winning Entry for the KDDCup 2005 Competition • Aims to predict the true category of user issued queries DB Group: GPUQP (Query Co-Processing Using Graphics Processors) • http://www.cse.ust.hk/gpuqp/ • GPUs can be regarded as massively parallel processors with 10x higher computation and 10x higher memory performance than CPUs. • We explore in-memory query co-processing using GPUs to fully exploit their architectural features. 30
Our demonstration systems NE Group: Coolstreaming • 1st Large Scale P2P Live Video Streaming System Worldwide • Google Entries over 1,000,000 in 2008. • Its underlying technology has laid the foundation for many popular commercial systems like PPLive and PPStream. VG Group: Skeleton Extraction • A fundamental problem with many applications in computer graphics and visualization • A simple and robust skeleton extraction method based on mesh contraction is studied. • Its effectiveness in mesh segmentation and skinning animation is demonstrated. 31
