What is CLP Regulation ? ✔It is the new European Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of chemical substances and mixtures. ✔CLP is about the of chemical substances and mixtures and how to inform others about them. hazards ✔CLP will completely replace the actual Dangerous Substance Directive until June 2015
What is changing ? The most important is the change in the labeling symbols : Instead of the hazard symbols with black printing on orange rectangles, now nine hazard pictogramms are used to provide warnings. Symbols Pictograms The previous nomenclature : toxic, irritant, corosive… has been replaced by two “signals words” : Danger or Warning R and S sentences have been replaced by H and P (Hazard and Precautionary)
What is changing ? With the new regulation there are now classes : • Five classes for physical dangers • Four classes for health hazards • One classe for environnemental dangers Classes can be divided (six divisions for flammable…)
