The Web of Identity If you are asked to explain how the Mass Media, for example, influences individual identities you need to work your way up the web – from thinking about how class, gender, age, ethnic and regional identities are influenced by the media, through thinking about how class identity is influenced by media socialisation, how our class values are influenced and so forth The basic idea underpinning the web of identity is a simple one – it can be used as a visual representation and revision aid that will enhance your ability to understand how individual identities are created and influenced.
