Tutorial for setup and running of SVDdiagnostic Note: SVDdiagnostic is MS Windows software. It will not run with Unix, Linux, MAC etc. We have no plans for such versions. 1) Import SVDdiagnostic.exe from Toth’s website 2) Deposit it in a directory from which your data directory is easily accessible. This will simplify typing of paths for data and results files.
Example of convenient setup for SVDdiagnostic The executable is in a directory directly above the data directories, each containing the GSAS (or TOPAS 3.0) output for a problem.
Directory data 2 contains the file gsas2.txt with the output of the normal matrix. Note: The file must be as written by GSAS. No clipping, no editing. It must contain only one normal matrix.
Starting execution To start execution, double-click the icon
A dialog pops up. Info will be updated as it appears. Click on OK to do actual calculations.
More packages interfaced later Paths are not too verbose Defaults are not a bad starting point Select what you need
A Notepad window pops up. The file is already saved. After printing, just close Notepad This file prints well with character size 8 in landscape orientation
End of tutorial on setup and running SVDdiagnostic The meaning and use of the output is covered in tutorial 2
