Reading skills • When you come across an unfamiliar/difficult word, you can break the word into parts. • Roots Is the base of the word • Suffix Is attached to the end of the root EX: democracy ( Greek roots) demos (people) + kratia (rule) = rule by the people
The reading (pg-9) The geography of Greece: • Greece is a land made up of peninsulas and small islands. • Greece is good for growing crops • The ancient Greeks were all islanders. • Some lived on real islands • Others lived in communities separated from each other by mountains • Each community developed its own customs and beliefs
