Catalog features • Those catalog applications are built using XToGen and SDX allowing: • Easy browsing (list and through documents) • Enhanced administration backoffice • Excel data import/export • Document copy • External list edition • PDF booklet export • Integration of existing look and feel • Complex document support • Full UTF-8 interface • Meta data support • VCF contact export

  5. Catalog data • French catalog • Documents are all in french • Managed documents are of two types: • Établissements (institutions) • Fonds (funds) • Italian catalog • Documents are all in italian • Managed documents are of four types: • Institutions • Projects • Services • Collections

  7. Data mapping 2/2 • 5 mapping links • Each mapping is done between two fields • Each field is associated to one native authority list • A matching table per mapping defines associations between values coming from the french and the italian lists

Portal features • Gathers data from two different applications • Transparent browsing and searching even if: • No 1 to 1 matching between document types • No 1 to 1 matching between authority lists values • Full-text and advanced search • Result documents are • identified by type and source • displayed in their local application • Full multilingual interface (fr, en, it)

  11. OAI advantages • Better application independancy • Applications can be really remote • Application data can be very heterogeneous • New application can simply be added into the portal • OAI is a standard allowing to use OAI tools from different vendors to handle application meta data

XToGen and SDX • All these applications are made with XToGen and SDX • SDX is available at http://sdx.culture.fr • It includes OAI features since 2.2 version (soon released) • XToGen is a SDX application generator engine, available at http://xtogen.tech.fr • It will includes OAI before end 2003 • Both are free software sponsored by French Ministry of Culture and Communication
