  3. Mound Westonka Girls Lacrosse • 12th Year • 5th Year in MSHSL • Varsity & JV Teams • 7th – 12 grades • 40 players 36 + 4 goalies

  4. Registration • Must be registered in order to practice!! • MSHSL Eligibility Statement • Health Questionnaire • Emergency Contact Information • Co-Curricular Transportation Waiver • Sports Physical Exam – valid for 3 years • Participation Fee: $250 • Damage Deposit: $100 • May not practice without red registration card • Impact Testing - Nate Tellers / OSR • Transfers – see the AD

Participation Fees • $250 • Registration online at MWHS website • Refunds – 100% refund for the first 7 days of participation or until tryouts are complete • 50% refund from 2nd day of 2nd week until the 1st competition; no refund after competition begins • No 3rd sport discount for lacrosse As a self funded team there is no financial assistance from the district for third sport athletes Scholarships are available through the boosters

  6. Player Contract • Player and parent/guardian must sign contract and turn in by Monday April 7 • Team attendance policies will be enforced • Special cases need at least 7 days notice and approval from coaching staff • If a player misses practice (or game) day before a game they will sit out minimum 1/2 of that game • Home games JV at field 45 min before game time (4:15) • Varsity in stands by start of JV game (5:00) • JV stays in stands during varsity game

Important Dates • Captains Practices March 24–28 5:00-6:30pm GMS Gym • First Practice March 31 4:30–6:00 Thaler Arena • Tryouts will be the first week of practice if numbers require it • Outside Practices Fields 3 & 4 4:30 – 6:30 • First Game April 15 vs Delano at Haddorf Stadium • Overnight Sat April 26 Holiday Inn St Paul & Swarm game • Omelet Breakfast Sunday May 11 Mound Legion • Sections begin Tues May 27 • NSLA Tournament May 31 & June 1 Haddorf Stadium

Player Equipment • Crosse (lacrosse stick) Women’s only • Eye Protection - approved women’s lacrosse goggle • Mouth Guard - Not white or clear Players will not be allowed to practice without the above items • Black Tennis Skirt – compression short type is best not needed until the first game • Black shirt (worn under jersey) • Water Bottle • Cleats – Optional but recommended soccer type molded cleat • Gloves • Most equipment is available at larger sporting goods stores locally Gear West in Long Lake

Equipment Supplied by the Team • Jerseys - Home and AwayBring both to every game • Pinnies - Each player will be issued a numbered pinnie the first day of practice, must be brought to every practice and scrimmage • Balls • Tape, prewrap, first aid supplies • Goalie Equipment • Water at practices and games

Games • Both JV & Varsity play at Haddorf Stadium • We must charge for conference varsity games home and away due to conference rules • MWHS students free – Golden ticket can use student ID • Coach John has $5 season pass for parents if interested (home only) • Booth, tickets and concessions run by boosters • Site Supervisor needed – see Coach John

Overnight • Sat April 26 Bus loads at 2:00pm • Bus to and from hotel & to and from Swarm game • St Paul Holiday Inn • Swarm Game Sat April 26 7:00 Xcel Energy Center • Breakfast brunch Sunday • Back at MWHS by 1:00pm Sun April 27 • Players hotel & ticket are covered by registration fee • Parents/Chaperones needed

  15. Transportation • Busses for all away gamesLoad at the horseshoe area North Doors • Loading Times will vary with destination between 3:15 and 3:45 • Monticello May 22 will be an early release day 1:45 bus loads at 2:00

  19. Attendance Policy • Students must be in attendance the entire school day in order to participate in an activity after school • Exceptions • School-related absence (field trip) • Medical appointments, funerals, court appointments – with a note

Chemical Eligibility • A student shall not at any time, regardless of the quantity: • Use or consume, have in possession a beverage containing alcohol; • Use or consume, have in possession tobacco; or, • Use or consume, have in possession, buy, sell or give away any other controlled substance or drug paraphernalia • Chemical Eligibility Suspensions • 2 weeks/2 contests – whichever is greater • 3 weeks/6 contests – whichever is greater • 4 weeks/12 contests – whichever is greater

  21. Academic Eligibility • New Quarter requirements – if a student fails 1 class in a quarter, he/she is ineligible for contests for two weeks or two contests, whichever is greater, following the official posting of grades. This policy starts with the 1st quarter grades of this year and takes effect for the winter sports season.

MWHS Lacrosse Boosters • Booster Fee - $50.00 Paid to boosters, not part of registration feeEach player will receive five $10 omelet breakfast tickets to sell or use, players keep any sales money. • Meetings first Tuesday of each month • As a self funded team the boosters coordinate and pay for everything the school usually does including expenses, logistics, fundraising, scholarships, youth leagues, banquet and more • Costs covered by the boosters include: Field equipment, Coaches, Transportation, Officials, Jerseys, Tournaments, Training, Overnight • Board President – Kristi Luehman Vice President – Secretary – Kim Schoephoerster Treasurer – Kristin Lee

  29. NSLA Girls State Lacrosse Tournament • Girls High School Club League State Tournament • Sat May 31 – Sun June 1 • Haddorf Stadium • Parents and players will work concessions and ticket sales • Our biggest fundraiser • Coordinators needed

  30. Middle School League • For girls currently in 6-8th grades • No previous lacrosse experience necessary • First week of June thru July • Registration thru Westonka Community Ed • 1-2 practices per week 1 game per week • Cost $130 • 4 home and 4 away games • Players are responsible for their own transportation • Games are against west suburban teams • 7th & 8th graders who make the high school team are eligible • Players need to be US Lacrosse members
