  2. Dividing Fractions and Mixed Numbers 6th Grade Advanced/Pre-IB Math LG 605: Students will be able to apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to divide fractions by fractions.

  3. Review: What does KCF stand for? Example: 7 ÷ Flip Change Keep 7 x

  4. Think Pair Share: Why does KCF work? When dividing fractions, you are really multiplying by the reciprocal of the divisor.

  5. Turn to page 122

  6. Solve the problem from p. 122 in your spirals Do you notice any patterns or anything interesting when you solved it? The denominators cross cancel when they are the same!!

  7. Solve in your spirals I will call on random volunteers to share and justify their answers!

  8. Speed Practice!! Take out a piece of paper and put the proper heading in the upper right hand corner. • You have 5 minutes to solve as many even problems as possible from your workbook on pages 37-38. • This will be handed in for a classwork grade.

  10. Look at the following problem… Rally Robin: What should our first step be in solving this problem?

  11. When dividing mixed numbers… Change any mixed number to an IMPROPER FRACTION
