Cardboard Citizens get a collection of plays and tour them around for people who are more excluded from society. • For example- Glass House written by award-winning poet, lyricist & writer Kate Tempest was toured London hostels, day centres, prisons & theatres in 2014, finishing early this year. The skills needed to put on this production are: To have are good research skills- these certain plays are used to resonate with the people hostels day centres etc. so it is essential to know the background of that type of life. To achieve this Cardboard Citizens employ actors with experience of homelessness to perform plays inspired by people they had met from the places they have toured. Open minded- Because you can’t judge the people that you are working with to give them a comfortable experience. Energy- So you can get the best experience out of the people you are working with for yourself. Thoughtful- So you can empathise with the people you are working with and understand they aren’t professional actors and may have trouble participating due to nerves etc. Time- You need to be able to give all your time and effort into the production to make it successful.

The process need to run a community project in 10 SIMPLE STEPS! • 1) Form a basic idea of what you want the project to be/include. • 2) Think about who you want to be included in the project. • 3) Create some advertisement to get some people to take part. • 4) Hand out advertisement and try to gain as many people possible to involve. (include emails and contact numbers) • 5) Find a space to run workshops/rehearsals. • 6) Run some workshops to start of with the group of people who came back to you. • 7)Discussions about the project with the people willing to take part. • 8) Rehearsal process. • 9)Find somewhere to perform/tour your project. • 10) Perform and ENJOY.
