  1. Adding Fractions w/Like Denominators To find the sum of fractions w/like denominators: • add the numerators • the denominator remains the same • write the sum in simplest form

  2. Adding Fractions Continued.. Example: 5/12 + 9/12= ? 1st- Add numerators, denominator stays the same. 5 + 9= 14, so= 14/12 2nd- Convert the improper fraction to a mixed number. 14/12= 1 2/12 3rd- Write the mixed # in simplest form. 1 2/12= 1 1/6
