Intel International Science & Engineering Fair Founded in 1950 by Science Services ~ Intel is Title Sponsor World’s largest pre-college celebration of science Over 1,400 students Over $3 million in awards and scholarships: Scholarships Tuition grants Internships Scientific field trips Grand prize: $50,000 college scholarship The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair provides an opportunity for the best young scientists from around the globe to share ideas, showcase cutting-edge science projects, and compete for awards and scholarships.

Awards 2 Divisions: Senior (Grades 10-12) Junior (Grades 7-9) 2 Grand Awards: Best Project Overall Senior Division Junior Division Ribbons and Certificates awarded for each Category: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Places 45 Special Awards in 2010: By companies and organizations May be given for specific project categories or in general for project excellence ~ Examples: Cash awards, scholarships, LHS Science Camp tuitions, Graphing calculators, etc
Judging Process Over 75 judges from a variety of disciplines and industries in Contra Costa County. Examine the quality of the student’s work Through interview, determine understanding of project and area of study. The physical display is secondary to the student's knowledge of the subject. The goal is that participation is an educational and motivating experience for the students. Interviews allow students to demonstrate the knowledge that they've gained by completing the project.
