Session outline • Knowledge and understanding of Framework for Improvement Dependent on your role: • To consider what are the ingredients for success in implementing this improvement approach for early years • To consider the challenges to the service in taking this approach • To identify community assets in your context that can contribute to improvement, and how you might personally engage

Breakout Objectives • Using a World Café approach • Present emerging learning in key topic areas, including the policy line, evidence base, and emerging testing in each work stream area • Discuss work at the CPP level in each work stream area • Contribute and leave your footprint on this important work • Have fun!

  6. Model for Improvement What are we trying to accomplish? What change can we make that will result in improvement? How will we know that a change is an improvement? Act Plan Study Do Langley, et al.

The fundamental improvement questions • What are we trying to achieve? • Know exactly what you are trying to do – have clear aims and objectives • How will we know that change is an improvement? • Measuring processes and outcomes • What changes can we make that will result in an improvement? • What have others done? What hunches do we have? What can we learn as we go along?

Aims – 1 – station 1 To ensure that women experience positive pregnancies which result in the birth of more Healthy babies as evidenced by a reduction of 15% in the rates of stillbirths (from 4.9 per 1,000 births in 2010 to 4.3 per 1,000 births in 2015) and infant mortality (from 3.7 per 1,000 live births in 2010 to 3.1 per 1,000 live births in 2015).

  10. Aims - 2– station 2 To ensure that 85% of all children within each Community Planning Partnership have reached all of the expected developmental milestones at the time of the child’s 27‐30 month child health review, by end‐2016.

  11. Aims – 3 – station 3 To ensure that 90% of all children within each Community Planning Partnership have reached all of the expected developmental milestones at the time the child starts primary school, by end‐2017.
