    1. AOOS Conceptual Design Overall Plan and Approach 1

    2. CHARGE To develop conceptual designs for statewide AOOS system and 3 AOOS regions: Arctic, Bering Sea/Aleutian islands, and Gulf of Alaska Use past stakeholder workshops, existing priority lists (e.g., state, NPFMC, NPRB, NSSI), existing draft plans, & FY07-09 proposal as starting point Designs should include ranking/prioritization to guide phased implementation Designs will guide FY 08-10 funding proposal due November 2007 2

    3. PROCESS & Timeline Develop draft designs/plans (now thru July 1) Organize small teams to review & refine designs for each region (July 1 – Aug 7) Teams meet concurrently & jointly to finalize drafts, assess technical/scientific priorities (Aug 8-9 tentatively) Develop final drafts (Aug 9-15) Drafts circulated to larger audience for review (Aug 15 – Sept 15) 3

    4. PROCESS & Timeline cont. ISER contractors research prioritization criteria & develop proposed methodology (June 6 – Aug 1) AOOS board approves methodology (early to mid Aug) ISER organizes small team to prioritize components in conceptual designs using approved methodology (Sept 1-30) Staff prepares final recommended plan for AOOS board consideration (Oct 1-15) AOOS board meets for final action (Oct 15) Develop FY 08-10 funding proposal (Oct 15-Nov 15) 4
