EULARINET kick-off meeting WP 2: Strengthening participation of LA in FP 7 (DLR/…) Objectives Increase the participation of LA entities in FP7 through specific training activities and integration of LA NCPs/NIPs into EU NCP networks. Structure Task 2.1: Articulation with EU NCP and LA NIP activities (DLR/CONACYT) Task 2.2: Specific matchmaking activities (DLR/CONICYT) Task 2.3: Co-operation Potential for SICA activities in FP7 (SECYT/DLR) Forschung und Bildung weltweit vernetzen

EULARINET kick-off meeting WP 2 • Task 2.1 Articulation with EU NCP and LA NIP activities (DLR/?) • Objectives • Support the further development of new and existing EU office in LA (Regional and National Information Points RIPs/NIPs) and increase their efficiency. • Strengthen networking between RIPs/NIPs and between LA EU offices and European National Contact Point networks. • Deliverable • D2.1 Report on involvement of LA NCPs/NIP in training activities of EU NCP trans-national networks (Month 24) Forschung und Bildung weltweit vernetzen

EULARINET kick-off meeting WP 2 • Task 2.2 Specific matchmaking activities (DLR/CONICYT) • Objectives • Facilitate an active partnering of institutions in the MS, AS and LAPC and improve networking • Raise the awareness of the potential of the LA (e.g. for contributing to EU research priorities and solving problems of global impact) and define future oriented priorities for joint actions • Achieve an increased participation of the LA in the “People” Specific Programme of FP7 • Synergies with other activities involving partners from EU and LA such as INCONTACT and projects in Thematic Priorities • Deliverable • D2.2 Background documents (online) for six matchmaking events, co-organised with brokerage events, external scientific events etc. (April 2009 + updates!) Climate and Cultural Heritage CONICYT + COLCIENCIAS Next events (coordinated with WP 4): Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Biotechnology (SECYT) Health (SECYT) Energy (Brazilian Partner) Information and Communication Technologies (CONACYT) Socio-economic Sciences and the Humanities (CONICYT-Nicaragua) Forschung und Bildung weltweit vernetzen

EULARINET kick-off meeting WP 2 • Task 2.3 Co-operation Potential for SICA activities in FP7 (SECYT/DLR) • Objectives • Identify topics of mutual interest in EU and LA • Provide validated input to the Programme Directorates (RICs!) on the S&T potentials of LA and on research topics of mutual EU – LA interest, addressing the specific needs of the partner countries -> SICAs Correlate activities with other INCONETs in order to avoid competitiveness • Deliverables • D2.3 Report on recommendations for SICA topics with special focus on LA (November 2008) • D2.4 Report on recommendations for SICA topics with special focus on LA (November 2009) • D2.5 Report on recommendations for SICA topics with special focus on LA (November 2010) Forschung und Bildung weltweit vernetzen

EULARINET kick-off meeting WP 2 • Task 2.3 Co-operation Potential for SICA activities in FP7 (SECYT/DLR) • Specific Activities • Mapping of existing SICA recommendationsJune 2008 LA and projects and FP7 activities in Thematic Areas involving partners from EU and LA • Meetings of LA funding organisations in Brazil and Chile September 2008 definition of SICA recommendations in he areas of health and agrofood recommendations for SICA activities in 2010 have to be presented to the EUC in November 2007 • Use Scientific Conferences and Brokerage Events (see Task 2.2.) to bring together LA scientists and policy makers to obtain information on their needs and expectations in the LA region as well as stakeholders from research, industries and governments from MS, AS and LA with the responsible Directorates from the EU Commission.
