SBPPC - New Research • Waste Analyses Study of 3 waste streams typical of automobile dealerships • Include antifreeze, oil absorbent, and sump sludge • Fifty automobile dealerships will participate • Samples of each waste stream will be collected from each dealership • TCLP analysis will be conducted by a certified laboratory • The outcomes are expected to be beneficial to every dealership in Iowa. Management of Electronics/Computers Can they be landfilled legally? • Waste CRTs generated by businesses would often NOT be able to be legally disposed of in a municipal landfill in Iowa. • Electronic equipment contains hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, chromium, cadmium, and beryllium. • And valuable metals such as aluminum, copper and precious metals - gold, silver, platinum and palladium.
