What is PR? “Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.”
What is PRSSA? The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is a pre-professional organization for college students interested in public relations, communications and related fields. PRSSA: • Seeks to advance the public relations profession. • Advocates for ethical principles, professional development and diversity. • Serves 11,000+ students at 300+ Chapters in the United States and Argentina.
How to join PRSSA • Member dues • $65 per year • Due no later than October 7 • Cash or check made out to PRSSA • Give dues to Nicole Sullivan • Includes business cards (opt-in), a T-shirt and all other National & local member benefits
Why become a paying member? Dues-paying members gain the following benefits/resources: • Internship database • National events • Scholarships & awards • Leadership experience • Competitions • Networking events • Mentorship • PRSA programs • Field trips • Writing experience • Exclusive Hunter PR internship
PRSSA-UD At a local level, you can expect the following: • General Meetings • Skill Slams • Networking Events • Field Trips • Mentorship • Fun!
Point System • Earn points for attending events • General meetings = 1 point • Bring a new friend to a meeting/event = 1 point • Skill Slams = 2 points • Participating on Communication Committee = 1 point • Additional points rewarded based on performance • Participating in Mentor-Mentee program = 1 point • Additional points rewarded based on performance • Top earners can gain prizes and benefits!

Mentor-Mentee Program Be a mentor or have a mentor! Junior & senior members will serve as a mentor to freshmen & sophomore members to provide guidance on picking classes, professional development, internship advice and more!
