  12. False hope and lies • There was some talk this week of Hamas agreeing a truce with Israel. However Hamas’s political leader KhaledMeshaal speaking in Syria, where he lives in exile, said the Palestinian state must have "Jerusalem as its capital, with genuine sovereignty, without settlements". • Mr Abbas who met President Putin last week met President Bush this week. Mr Bush said he was committed to "a viable state, a state that doesn't look like Swiss cheese, a state that provides hope". • The reference to Swiss cheese is the fact that on the West Bank there are many settlements that Israel wants to keep. If they do keep them then they would be pockets of Jewish land in amongst the new Palestinian state. Hence a map would look like Swiss cheese. In effect President Bush is saying that Israel must withdraw from the whole of the West Bank not some of it. In Joel 3 we read of the nations who have “parted” God’s land. The word parted means “apportioned” or “divided”.

Prescott Bush was managing partner of Brown Brothers Harriman. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert looks to soon be found guilty of corruption. • We also wonder is he really true to Israel’s cause? • "According to frequently-published statements by you and some of the ministers in your government," Ben-Yosef's letter to Olmert states, "you intend to negotiate with Israel's enemies - including Mr. Abu Mazen, the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority -- regarding the re-division of Jerusalem and the ceding of parts of the city -- in violation of Clauses 5 and 6 of this law."

MOSCOW (AP) - Russia on Thursday sharply criticized Israel for its offensive against Hezbollah guerrillas in Lebanon, saying it went "far beyond the boundaries of an anti-terrorist operation" and repeating calls for an immediate cease-fire. The Foreign Ministry said Russia affirms the need to fight terrorism and called for the immediate release of captive Israeli soldiers, but it added that "the unprecedented scale of the casualties and destruction" in Lebanon indicates that Israel is using too much force. The comment echoed a statement by President Vladimir Putin, who said while hosting a summit of the Group of Eight nations Saturday that Russia had the impression Israel was "pursuing wider goals" than the return of abducted soldiers.

  25. Russian Fleet Worries Israel • Russia’s plans to restore its permanent naval presence in the Mediterranean Sea are causing serious concern in Israel. The Israelis think that the Syrian ports the Russians are most likely to use will turn into major centers of electronic surveillance and air defense centers and, as such, threats to Israel’s national security. Russian experts say that Moscow’s plans are unlikely to come to fruition any time soon. There is neither the money nor the technical capacity for it. • Commander of the Russian Navy Fleet Adm. Vladimir Masorin announced Russia’s plans to return to the Mediterranean at the end of last week in Sevastopol. He did not say whether new bases would be established in the region. The development of multifaceted ties with the EU is Russia’s principled choice. In the foreseeable future, for obviousreasons, we have no intention of either joining the EU or establishing any form of institutional association with it. Russia intends to build its relations with the EU on a pragmatic basis with a treaty and a strategic partnership. In this regard I agree with Romano Prodi’s view of Russian-EU relations: “Anything but institutions.” We are prepared to develop this partnership to a maximum extent, expecting of course that our partners willmeet us halfway along this road.

  30. I am convinced that the development of relations between Russia and the EU has logically led us to the need for a new treaty on strategic partnership. The treaty should become an instrument capable of ensuring a higher level of economic integration and interaction, providing for freedom and security on the European continent. SUCCESSORS OF ROME:RUSSIA, 862-Present • When St. Vladimir accepted Christianity in 989, Russia took the first step in what would become a mission to assume the heritage of Constantinople. the Grand Dukes of Moscow had shaken off the hold of the remaining Mongol successor states, and the "New Rome" of Constantinople had itself fallen to the Turks in 1453, the way was clear for Moscow to become the "Third Rome" and the Duke the "Tsar of All the Russias."   42. The Beast Dragon False prophet The dragon element which Constantine had moved from Rome to Constantinople, continued there until 1453 when the city fell to the Turks. The seat of the dragon was then moved north to Moscow, or "the third Rome" as it became known. Thus, the heirs to the Roman Empire were to be found with the Czar (Caesar) in Russia, with the German Kaiser (Caesar) and with the pope (PontifexMaximus) in Rome. If these three aspects are brought together, then we would have -- to all intents and purposes -- a revived Roman Empire, or ten-horned beast.
